May 2024

May is a fun month here at Montessori & Music Daycare Center.  We love celebrating our mothers.  We will be celebrating our mothers on Friday, May 10th by hosting a Muffins with Mom event.  The Primary children will be singing and sharing muffins with their mom.

I was talking to some of the teachers the other day and we mentioned that when a child is hurting, afraid, or in destress they naturally call out for mommy.  Such a sweet sound to a mother’s ears, having a child call out to them in a time of need.  While dads play an important role in the child’s life, it is the mom who carries the child to term, most usually feeds and nurtures them, and tends to their basic needs in the early years of their life. As a child grows, the dependency becomes less, but the love is still present.  Being a mom can be exhausting, but you never quit.  While sometimes you feel you are failing at your job of being a mom, you’re not!  To your child you are the person who can do everything. You pour love into your children every day, even when you feel there is none to give. Your love is what guides your children each day.  Thanks to all moms for being a source of strength and happiness in the life of a child.  Happy Mother’s Day!

During the month of May, we also celebrate teacher appreciation week.  I love this time of showing the teachers how much they are loved and appreciated.  We have a great teaching staff, and I am proud to work with them daily.  They work diligently to care for and educate every child in our care.  Some days are more difficult than others, but they have all felt how teaching can be so rewarding when you see a child reach the next milestone.  Thank you, MMDC teachers!  It is an honor to work alongside each of you.

The daycare will be closed Monday, May 27th as we observe Memorial Day.  Let us take time to remember and honor the military personnel who have lost their lives while serving our country.
