February is known as the month of love and we are already planning for our Valentine’s Day parties, thinking about kindness toward our friends, and bringing a special valentine to the children in the classes. In walking into the classrooms, I see many Valentine’s Day projects taking place as they explain to me what they are coloring or painting that day. I love to see their enthusiasm!
This month we are celebrating Groundhog Day and our 100th day of school. This has kept everyone busy. I know the teachers have properly conveyed the meaning of Groundhog Day when I hear a child walking out of the building explaining to their parents whether or not the groundhog saw his shadow. We try to make these special days fun for them while learning at the same time. I am not sure how accurate the groundhog is on actually predicting the weather, but it is a yearly tradition that the children enjoy.
Later on in this month we will celebrate Science Week. It is a new event for us to have an entire week dedicated to science projects. The teachers are looking forward to working on science projects and experiments with the children. When you show a child how Science works, they become interested and it opens their minds to all possibilities.
Happy Valentine's Day!
